METHODOLOGICAL PROPOSAL FOR THE REDESIGN OF AN AUTOMOTIVE PART, USING MATHEMATICAL SIMULATION
Keywords:

When a mechanical element suffers a structural failure, ceasing to fulfill the function for which it was designed, its redesign is carried out, starting by locating the cause that caused the failure, and which could be due to the material, the geometric shape, the operating conditions or the loads to which it is subjected.
The determination of these causes can be complicated if the necessary experience is not available.
In this work, a methodology is developed, based on the finite element method, to redesign the front suspension fork of a compact car, which presented the failure within the warranty period; therefore, the original design for Europe was analyzed, obtaining high values in the forces and displacements of a section of the element; thus, this was resized and acceptable results were obtained for the operating conditions on roads in Mexico.
